The Childersburg City Council met on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. with the following agenda of items for action:
The Council agenda included five resolutions, the first of which, Resolution 2022-19, approved the FY 2023 City Operating Budget. The $5.281-million spending leaves a surplus of $17,173 from the projected revenues. It includes a wage increase package, totalling $147,823. The City will also pick up an additional 5-percent of employee medical insurance premiums. There will also be a one-time longevity bonus for every City employee, based on the number of years worked.
The Mayor also made an official announcement that Tractor Supply is renovating the former Winn Dixie building for one of the largest locations for the retail chain. He added that several other projects relating to the same shopping center are in the works, along with a major housing development, “The future looks bright for Childersburg.”
Approval was also given to Resolution 2022-50, which approves the purchase of eleven (11) ballistic police vests from Safe Line Defense, not to exceed $8,000, paid from the ARP Fund #75.
The Council approved Resolutions 2022-51 through 2022-53 which all approve Richardson Construction to make Storm Water system repairs on 16th Avenue NW ($27,075), and a pair on Rocky Ridge Road ($17,087 & $24,535), all paid from ARP Fund #75.
The Mayor noted the congestion of traffic along Highway 280 through the City, due to ongoing construction from the state highway department, “Please, remain patient and cautious. It will so much safer with better traffic flow in the end. Just be patient a little longer, please.
Council approval was given for payment of invoices in the amount of $160,314.76.
The next regular meeting of the Council will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2022.
